Early, well used 3 1/4" long by 1 1/2" wide steel based gunmetal chariot plane. Nice shape casting with chamfered top edge, separate front mouth piece. Original ebony wedge and original single solid iron by Ward. I would suggest this is definitely a factory made plane, it looks to me like there is a feint makers name to the rear amongst all the hammer marks. Even though the plane is well used it is still a very nice example and does have a certain charm about it.
