Good 19th century large size American style SIDE AXE with old replacement hickory handle. Lovely "Kent pattern" head with chamfered decoration. As can be seen only the last part of the head is good quality hardened steel. Almost 6" wide cutting edge. These side axes are rare as so many people destroy them by grinding both sides without realising what they are.
