Fine clean little used Record of Sheffield No. 05 1/2 large size heavy jack plane. The plane retains all of its original blue finish inside and has its original beech fittings with full length original blade. The rear handle still has its original transfer to the top but there is a glued hairline near the base of the handle. Apart from the hairline to the handle this plane is in extremely good condition. It hasn't done much work at all.

Here we have a superb example of early 1700's planemaking in the form of a round moulder. As with many early planes it has been shortened at the front to 9 3/4" length thus sadly no makers name. Huge wide flat chamfers and a lovely early long shaped wedge. Half length original iron. Basically the plane is in very good condition for its age and is a nice colour. Own a piece of history at a reasonable price !!
